New Mexico, U.S.A. 		Via Domingo Baca Canyon,
new first time route South of
Echo Canyon; now my favorite
Domingo Baca route to the crest.
September 14, 1997 Wiwannihorn 3001m Walliser Alps,
Switzerland 		Via Wiwannihütte,
some rock climbing in a couloir
leading to the ridge, breathtaking
views; see the summit at my slide show.
July 30, 1995 Rysy 2499m Polish High Tatra,
Poland 		Via Morskie Oko,
my first and only ascent of the Poland's
highest peak; it would have been much
less crowded and nicer without fixed ropes.

this highest peak in New Mexico.

forced to turn around just above the
Rimpfischsattel (4009m); for the

Fall 1996 Sandia Crest
 3255m Sandia Mountains,
New Mexico, U.S.A. 		My first hike into the TWA Canyon -
I tried to repeat the hike I did
a year earlier and got lost;
remains of the TWA plane from
a fatal crash almost half a century ago
make an amazing impression (at least
the first time around).
Fall 1996 South Sandia Peak
 3005m Sandia Mountains,
New Mexico, U.S.A. 		Finally on the South Peak;
after 7 years in Albuquerque.
May, 1995 Sandia Crest
 3255m Sandia Mountains,
New Mexico, U.S.A. 		My first hike in the Domingo Baca Canyon
- we went up into the Echo Canyon
all the way to the Crest Trail -
nice but too much bushwhacking.
September, 1994 Sandia Crest
 3255m Sandia Mountains,
New Mexico, U.S.A. 		My first hike on the Chimney Rock
Trail.
September, 1994 Grand Canyon
 ?? Grand Canyon National Park,
Arizona, U.S.A. 		My first hike in the Canyon.

 3993m Walliser Alps,
Switzerland 		A failed attempt - we had to
turn around after reaching one of
the fake summits above 3800m;
on the way down we were almost swept
from a steep slope by a small avalanche.
